Friday Favorites: Well Traveled

Hey friends! It’s Friday! Today I’m on my way to Napa, CA. A few girlfriends and I are taking a little vacay to celebrate our 30th birthdays. Having been close friends since college, we’ve marked many milestones together: our crazy co-ed days, graduation, moves, grown-up jobs and weddings. So, it only seemed right that we welcome this new decade of life with a fun, girl’s weekend.

As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I have been on the go lately. And, after a winter of hibernation, it’s been nice to do a little traveling and see new places. I haven’t been on the West Coast since I was 13 and I’ve never been to Napa—so, for that and many other reasons, I’m really looking forward to this weekend. When I started to pack for this trip, the thought crossed my mind, “I’m really bad at packing.” And then as I thought about it, I realized, I’ve never actually packed perfectly. You know, when you have everything you need, wear everything you packed and effortlessly fit it all into a cute little carry-on rolling bag? In my continued efforts to master this “perfect packing,” I’ve put together a Friday Favorites: Travel Edition with some travel essentials that will hopefully make the whole process more perfect, less hot mess.

Dual Purse Organizer from MochiThings

I love the idea of this purse organizer from MochiThings. My purse and carry-on bags are usually a bottomless pits. God knows what’s in there. This organizer would keep any bag neat and functional. Not to mention you can easily transport it from bag to bag for quick purse changes.

Travel Inspiration by Of Life & Lemons

I love a good adventure. Don’t you? Traveling isn’t always about far away, exotic locations. It can be a short trip, close to home. For me, traveling is about new experiences—seeing new places, eating new food, meeting new people. This art from Of Life & Lemons on Etsy is a nice reminder to get out there and explore.

I saw this Madewell tote at Nordstrom and thought it would be a perfect carry-on bag. Can I have it? Please?

With Love From Kat Travel Collection from GiGi New York

These chic and colorful travel accessories from GiGi New York’s “With Love From Kat” Collection, add style to any trip. Look familiar? I used my passport holder while traveling to Austin. You can also order any of the pieces monogrammed, which I love.

“Pack This!” Notepad by Knock Knock

I’m definitely a to-do list person. Lists help me stay motivated and organized. Plus, I get so much satisfaction crossing things off my lists. (Do you ever add things you’ve actually already done to your to-do list, just so you can cross them off? Yeah, me too.) Knock Knock notepads are great. This travel version is perfect for organized packing!

Kendra Scott Jewelry Organizer

I found this Kendra Scott Jewelry Organizer on Haute Off the Rack. Packing jewelry can be a pain. Right now, I’m using a tiny cardboard box to carry my jewelry when I travel. The result? When I get to my destination it’s a tangled, disorganized mess. Problem solved! Thanks, Kendra Scott.

Fujifilm Instax Instant Smartphone Printer

IMG_8242This portable, easy to use smart phone printer is a fun way to share your travel photos. Share them with friends, or even use them to scrapbook and document your memories. I found mine at Urban Outfitters, but lots of other places carry it too.

My Favorite Travel Destination: El Conquistador in Fajardo, Puerto Rico

Hello, beautiful! El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, Puerto Rico holds such special memories for me. It’s where my parents renewed their vows, my husband and I stayed on our honeymoon, and we later returned to vacation with my family. I just love this place.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize in Travel-size

moisturizeFlying and changing climates can take a toll on your skin. I’ve noticed when I travel everything seems dry: my hair, my skin, my eyes, my lips. These products are great for providing extra moisture right when you need it. (From Top Left: Evian Facial Spray; Bausch & Lomb Renu Rewetting Drops; Clinique Moisture Surge, Eos Lip Balm)

Rifle Paper Co. for LeSportac Cosmetic Bag

Rifle Paper Co. for LeSportacI found this gem at Paper Source (one of my favorite stores). This Rifle Paper Co. for LeSportac cosmetic bag is not only adorable—it’s also practical. It keeps all your make-up neat and organized when you travel. ‘Back Me Up’ Charger

My back-up phone charger has saved me many times. When traveling, I use my phone more than usual—navigating on google maps, checking Yelp reviews and taking pictures. The last thing I want is that dreaded “low battery” warning. Portable chargers give you an extra boost without being chained to an outlet on the wall. Isn’t this one from cute?

A Beautiful Mess Travel Scrapbooks

A Beautiful Mess is one of my favorite blogs. Their creative DIY photo books really make me wish I had the discipline to journal or scrapbook more often. Regardless, I think it’s important to document your travels any way you can. Take pictures, save ticket stubs, write down details or special experiences. That way, you can share these travel experiences with others and remember them for years to come.
