Oh my, thank goodness it’s Friday! I’ve really been looking forward to this weekend. For the past few weeks, I’ve been pretty sick, but thankfully I finally turned the corner. So, now that I have my energy (and appetite) back, I’m ready to get out of this apartment and do something fun. My husband and I plan to explore downtown Charlotte a little (or Uptown, as it’s called here). And, we’re going to kick off the weekend with a much needed movie and dinner date. What are you up to this weekend?
I’ve been pinning like crazy lately, so I thought I’d do a round-up of some Friday Favorites. Here we go!
This oversized, mohair sweater, found on The Fashion Cuisine, makes my heart pitter patter.
Don’t these make your mouth water? I love that these fries are baked, crispy, and generously seasoned. You can find this recipe on Layers of Happiness.
These wise words really rang true this week. After a few less than pleasant phone calls this week—one for work, the other while scheduling an appointment, I was really tempted to lose my cool. But instead, both times, I tried to channel my frustrations into positivity. Once I shifted my attitude, I felt the person on the other end of the phone shift too. This is a good reminder that choosing kindness and compassion even when we least feel like it, can completely salvage the outcome of a potentially bad situation. Found on the Humans of Joy Instagram account.
This shirt from Thug Life Shirts may have been made for me and my best girlfriends.
If too much pasta is wrong, then I don’t want to be right. Lately, I’ve been craving all things pasta. And rather than indulging, I’ve been trying to satisfy my need by pinning recipes. But, this dish has a little bit of everything I love in a great pasta meal—there’s no fighting my urge to try it. If you want to try it too, you can find the recipe on Diethood.
Bold & Beautiful Kitchen Runners:
Since we’ve slowly but surely started looking at houses, most of my recent pins have to do with home decor. I love a light and white kitchen, but to add some color, I love a bold kitchen runner. This rug roundup put together by Becki Owens is especially good.
I’ve never read anything more true than this. Posted by @Muffintopless.
I make a smoothie almost every day. Lately, I’ve been looking for some variety to add to my usual acai berry, strawberries, banana and almond milk blend. I recently tried these Jamba Juice Smoothie Kits and I’m really enjoying them. They even have varieties that include veggies. So far, these are my two favorite flavors. I just add a little almond milk and a splash of OJ, blend and drink!
Whoever came up with mug cakes deserves an award. They’re the perfect solution for when you’re craving a sweet treat but want to avoid baking enough to completely destroy your diet and willpower. Visit Handmade Charlotte for ‘8 Yummy Five Minute Mug Cake Recipes.’
See you next, Friday! xx, Devon
